It actually was something they requested people stopped doing for today. I would guess the reason is that it’s too much overhead for them to deal with in a crisis situation. This might have just been in Boston specifically, but nevertheless that’s what I’ve seen from the Red Cross & hospitals several times.

They did stay that it would be critical to donate blood in upcoming days & weeks. Perhaps later on would be more helpful to them.
